People think of poetry as something abstract, intangible, something that they cannot comprehend, and for that reason, either give up or simply refuse to read it. I have been writing poetry for five years, and with the passing of time, I have realized that the perception most have of poetry is a fallacy.
Poetry is human. It is the embodiment of our living, and it is a symbol of our lives. It is not an elitist art form, because it can be read and written by anybody who has the basic knowledge of language. As such, poetry can come to represent your life, with all the feelings that you feel, with all the thoughts that you think and with all the other human beings present in your daily life. Thus, poetry becomes an extension of our presence in this world, it becomes our life expressed in words.
And because poetry is an extension of us, poetry becomes us. It therefore has the ability to inspire, and to spark change in others, just as we, from our actions, could be capable of the same thing. This is what I strive, therefore, through my work and my poetry. I strive that my reader be inspired after reading the works within here, witness some change within him or her, and be capable of transmitting that change onto others. At the very least, I hope that they would be more aware about themselves or their surroundings.
I hope you will enjoy your stay here as much as I will enjoy your visit.
Now let the journey begin.
